About Us
On May 21st, 1986, Judy Dresen opened what she thought would be a one-woman venture to occupy her new-found spare-time. She grew and developed her project to near perfection. For 13 years, she and her crew served the "Best Subs in Vernon County" and provided fresh, high quality deli products to a dedicated customer base.
January 1999 brought a new owner to the Cheese Corner but not a new face. Tina Tryggestad, Judy's youngest daughter, vowed to "not screw up a good thing" and continued to provide the community with the quality food they had come to expect.
In October of 2007, we opened a second location in the Shelby Mall on the south side of La Crosse. Stop in for the same great taste with a new look. (Smells are Free)

I am here in La Crosse for just a one month period on a medical rotation at Gundersen Lutheran. One afternoon the office purchased sandwiches from The Cheese Corner and I took mine home for dinner that day. It was the Mexican sub (without Mayo, of course). I have never had a better sandwich! I loved it! Thank you for making my short visit even better by offering great food! I definitely plan on making my own trip to The Cheese Corner.

We always had a wonderful experience when our family stops in. The staff is always friendly and willing to answer questions about the products and helpful in suggesting new items. You need to bring back the keylime cookies they were great. When you walk in your establishment you can smell the fresh veggies right away and always your toppings, bread are fresh. The lefse that you sell is just like what grandma's make. It is nice to know that someone still makes homemade lefse to sell to the public yet. Thanks again for the wonderful service and the great food that you serve. We truly enjoy coming out there to eat and also coming in to order food to take out. Thanks again for a wonderful place and always a great experience from your wonderful staff.

This is to the gals who work the Viroqua store. My husband was in Viroqua visiting family and visited the Cheese Corner daily last week. (Along with his coffee requirement at the local Quick Trip.) He said someone would remember the subs for Daytona. Well, here is your testimony. Don flew out on Thursday and the subs made it just fine to Daytona even though they were prepared Wednesday night. It was great bagging up the ”veggies“ in zip bags. I can not believe the size of your subs with the quality of meat. They are just as I remember when the store first opened. Looks like the daughter did not ”screw up“ when she became the new owner. The subs were great and they were consumed today, Friday for lunch. Thank you for maintaining great quality. It is greatly appreciated.
